Artist Collection: Whitney Houston Reviews:
Not Right, Nor Okay 2 Star Review
2007-05-10 - Within the past few years, many classic artists have released greatest hits records that have been either a real hit, or just a absolutely missed opportunity at reflecting on a great artist. That has been the case with acts like soul acts like Patti LaBelle, the late and soully seductive Luther Vandross, and the legendary Whitney Houston. Yet, with all the things that have arose around her the past several years, from problems with vices, to a saddened divorce with her husband of 14 years, Bobby Brown, it is easy to really forget how elegant her voice is, and how many people she has influenced. Yet, there have been good records from overseas, but have they done the job at reflecting her career like this one?

The 2004 Artist Collection: Whitney Houston is a single disc reflection of her career. The songs reflect mainly her R&B records, but not highlighting her best songs from her movie soundtracks. The collection does include some great tracks that still remain as bold and vivid like I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Greatest Love Of All, Saving All My Love For You, I'm Your Baby Tonight, and her rendidtion of the classic Isley Brothers ballad For The Love Of You. Although the collection has been remastered nicely, it definitely misses out on so many fantastic songs. The album mainly and sadly misses out on ballads like her #1 smash from The Bodyguard I Will Always Love You, the Oscar-winning duet When You Believe with Mariah Carey, as well as upbeat tracks like One Of Those Days and Heartbreak Hotel with Faith Evans and Kelly Price, and many other great songs.

All in all, I really was expecting better from the Artist Collection: Whitney Houston. It really isn't a bad sampler for anyone who hasn't yet heard her songs, but definitely not even close to a actual must buy. I really recommend that you purchase her 2000 The Greatest Hits record instead. This isn't a collection that should give good love.

Truly, Not The Best From The Best 2 Star Review
2004-10-13 - It always amazes me how Grestest Hits records seem to come to play, from anywhere in the world. Yet, there are some that work great, but there are others that aren't worth itselves in their value in gold. That even happens to some of the best singers out there. For Whitney Houston, she has definitely made a staple voice, into a nearly 20 year legacy that has made so many records, and influenced so many artists all over. Sadly, even though she has suffered from tabloid melees and substance bouts, she has survived. This hits collection may not however.

The Artist Collection: a import series of songs from Arista acts is like the U.S. platinum & Gold Collection. The songs on the Whitney Houston are consistent from her five records, the two self-titled records Whitney Houston & Whitney, I'm Your Baby Tonight, My Love Is Your Love, and Just Whitney. The songs range adequately well, with a lot of good staple songs from Whitney including You Give Good Love, The Greatest Love Of All, Hold Me with Teddy Pendergrass, Saving All My Love For You, It's Not Right But Its Okay, and I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Yet, there are some great songs here, there were just a lot of good songs that really were not included here that should've been here. Especially from her soundtrack work with Waiting To Exhale, The Preacher's Wife & The Bodyguard. This turns out to really be a harsh dissapointment, with some of Whitney Houston's best songs overshadowed including I Will Always Love You, I Have Nothing, Exhale (Shoop Shoop), When You Believe from The Prince Of Egypt, I Believe In You & Me, and Heartbreak Hotel just to name a few.

All in all, Whitney Houston is a magnificent singer, but this collection really isn't worth the voice this diva has made. Instead, I suggest you buy the import version of her 2000 The Greatest Hits Record. It is a much better purchase than this album.

Cover doesn't match the music! 5 Star Review
2004-10-12 - Looks like a black Simpson's character on the cover. LOL! My kid draws beetter than that.

Whitney's vocals are AMAZING, as always on this record. Although it is a collection of her lesser-known hits, it is definatley worth buying. Probably the best one in the Artists Collection Series. Plus it features a hot Nelly re-mix!

*Also, Whitney is working as I type this on a new album with meantor, Clive Davis which should be very good. Thank GOD she's doing good now.
