It's Not Right, But It's Okay Reviews:
her name is not Susan
2008-09-15 - This is one of Whitney's best singles in years.
As a longtime Whitney Houston fan for more than 20 years I am so excited that she is finally starting to regain her sanity and clean up her act. Over the last 10 years Whitney's catalog has gone from fantastic to mediocre in an eye's blink. There really aren't too many songs from this era that many longtime fans (myself included) enjoy.
"It's Not Right, But It's Okay" is the exception. It sounds like one of her older hits because her voice is so beautiful and strong and everlasting. The lyrics are also noteworthy because this is one of the first times that Whitney has chosen to write about her former relationship. This is also an excellent dance CD or a party CD. The mixes have a very fast beat that almost have at timeless quality, making them sound new and fresh and exciting.
Unlike some people, I will not sit in judgement of Whitney. She knows exactly what she is doing and like I said at the top of my review she is back in control. Her marriage wasn't a mistake. She has a beautiful daughter and Whitney stood by her man for 15 years which is eons longer than many marriages last in this disposable reality world that we currently muddle through.
infused with hypocrisy
2008-04-30 - Not only is this song mediocre and repetitive, it is chock-full of hypocrisy. Staying with Bobby Brown all those years and saying "I'd rather be alone than unhappy"? I don't buy it.
When did this song come out? When were the pair last together?
(I know it's incredibly difficult to leave an abusive relationship, especially when there are children. But the fact that the child's well-being is at stake should also be enough motivation to leave and "stay gone".) Who knows, maybe this song inspires Whitney every time she hears it while food shopping... If so, then at least it serves her properly...
Where is KCC's mix, Arista?
2006-02-25 - This is an awesome CD-single, but for some reason, Arista decided not to include the amazing "Release the Love Groove Mix" by KCC on here; instead, it's on the "My Love Is Your Love" single. Oh, well. At least we get the FULL Hex Hector remix of "I Will Always Love You" (on her Greatest Hits you get the radio edit). Anyway, as for the actual tracks on here, here is a rundown:
1. Rodney Jerkins Smooth Mix-Doesn't stray too far from album version. 10/10
2. Smooth Mix Instrumental-Pointless. 8/10
3. Thunderpuss Radio Mix-Also the video remix (which, btw, that Ms. Houston re-shot for this). Can be found on Superstars #1 Hits Remixed. 10/10
4. Club 69 Radio Mix-Good, but not phenomenal. Mr. Rauhofer, you can do better! 9.8/10
5. Thunderpuss Club Mix-Amazing. I love the acapella part when she sings, "you were making a fool of me" and they hold onto that one note for a long time to usher back in the music. Thank God for Thunderpuss! 10/10
6. Club 69 Future Club Mix-Same as radio mix, only longer (duh). 9.8/10
7. Future Dub-Dub version, which I actually consider better than the club mix. 10/10
8. I Will Always Love You (Hex Hector Club Mix)-Absolutely the best Mr. Hedtor has done, in my opinion (his HQ2 club mix of Madonna's "Music" with Mac Quayle comes at a close second). 10/10
That's my review! L8r!
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!
2005-10-09 - this item contains the best remix ever in history!!! all fans of dance music and remixes in particular, need to get this cd-maxi!
Wow ... The Old Whitney!
2005-05-15 - Such beauty and talent but so little brains ... this single is a fantastic song that only a Whitney Houston voice could carry! She needs to revive her career, dump Bobby and put out more songs like this one. Get off the crack Whitney! You have too much talent to fold and fall by the waistside! We need you to rescue us from Beyonce, Amerie, Ciara and all the other mediocre talent out there!
