  • Editorial Review:
Comedic genius Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, who gets more than he bargained for when his expedition takes a wrong turn into the Land of the Lost. Now, Marshall, his crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist named Will (Danny McBride), have no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in a world full of marauding dinosaurs, fantastic creatures and laugh-out-loud comedy!

Description of Land of the Lost:
How to make a big-screen version of Sid and Marty Krofft's Seventies TV show? In this case, place the thing in the meaty hands of Will Ferrell and give the special effects a big upgrade. If you grew up with the show, you will recall that Marshall, Will, and Holly fall through a time warp into a land where dinosaurs roam and all kind of weird things grow. In this version, Ferrell plays a disgraced scientist, Anna Friel a brainy postgraduate, and Danny McBride (Pineapple Express) the sleazy owner of a desert tourist trap that happens to be home to the time portal. This begins to suggest how this movie wants to have it both ways: keep some of the original's kid appeal, but raunch it up just enough for fans of Judd Apatow's movies. The result is that nothing really works very well. There's no momentum to the plot, the locations are monotonous, and Ferrell and McBride are desperate in their attempts to generate something out of nothing. Granted, they succeed a few times--these guys are too funny to whiff completely--but the strain is visible. And although the effects, are competent, the movie can't even get its fantasy rules straight (why is the T. Rex sometimes ferocious and sometimes indifferent?). Fans of the show will enjoy hearing the cheesy theme song worked in (Ferrell performs a zonked version) and seeing how the movie updates the menacing Sleestaks. But on a basic level Land of the Lost has no idea what it's doing, or what it means to do. --Robert Horton

    Land of the Lost Reviews:
I LOVE WILL FERRELL!!!!!!!!!!! 1 Star Review
2009-12-15 - But this movie was BAD! I loved Land of the Lost when I was a young, easy to please youth but if this movie was meant to duplicate that series or even to mock it in a funny way; then it was a poor job. I even finished watching it, forcing myself to do so like a child forcing down their vegetables. I feel two regrets as of this moment. 1.) I hate to give such a rotten review to a movie whose star actor is someone I admire. 2.) I wish that I wasn't one of those people that believed in "Just say No", because I really think that I would have enjoyed it while under the influence.

    Pathetic 1 Star Review
2009-12-11 - Pathetic might actually be giving this film too much credit. As I watched this movie I kept thinking "This is supposed to be a
comedy, somewhere along the line there just has to be something in here that is funny, not just stupid." Well, I stand corrected.
There wasn`t. That about says it all.

WARNING!: NOT! FOR! CHILDREN! OR YOUNG ADULTS! HORRIFIC VILE/DIRTY INNUENDOS - HORRIBLE GARBAGE - INSULTING/DEMEANING FILTH!! 1 Star Review
2009-12-09 - Aside from being a meaningless plotless poorly written movie, the worst is that is is just a Horrible, filthy and dirty piece of senseless garbage. There is really nothing funny about this movie.

Will farrell has crossed the line in waht is hopefully his exit from movies. This movie is not worth watching. WE shut it off and sent it back with a letter, demanding a refund for this vile and filthy piece of trash.

Farrell, who had a lot of say in the making of this incorrectly rated dirty filth, may think it funny to teach his children to use the S word and the F word casually, should keep his sickness away from innocent and gullable movie-goers.

PARENTS SHOULD HAVE BEEN WARNED ABOUT THIS EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE MOVIE GARBAGE FILLED WITH VERY UPSETTING FILTH!!!

This movie was so bad, again, we stopped it and sent it back to let amazon know. What a horrendous and shocking exploitation of the consumer. Where is the warning label for such dirt.

Is hollywood just to make a quick dollar and not care about the hurtful effects a movie like this can cause.

Be very leary and run from anyone who would give this filth any credit.

Amazon needs a zero star category for ferrell, kroft brothers and anyone who had anything to do with this movie.

People need to be warned about such bad and waste of time movies like Ferrells.

Will never attend or buy anything Ferrell again.

Spielberg's movie is worth it, he s a class act and would never ever condone such a drty and vulgar film as this.

    God help us all!

    Hey da!

This movie was a waste of money!!! 1 Star Review
2009-12-08 - I love Will Farrell but the director didn't do him any favors with lame acting! The story sucked, the acting was lame...they paid him 20+ million for what?

Don't waste your time or money on this one.

    Horrible 1 Star Review
2009-12-05 - Movie remakes of TV Shows need to actually follow the story, or at least mirror what happened from the original show. The original Land Of The Lost TV Show was cheesy at best, but this film is just dumb. It's not funny. The story is just a movie that has the title "Land of the Lost" so people who liked the TV series will watch it. Don't waste your time or money.
