2. Part II: Ten Plagues
3. Part III: Redemption
Editorial Review:
Jewish Music Group today announced the release of Exodus: An Oratorio In Three Parts with William Shatner and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Recorded in
Arkansas, the album features William Shatner s unique vocal style on each track. The collection will be released on April 15, 2008 and is a must have for all fans of Shatner as well as people interested in inspirational recordings and classic Biblical literature. Music for the album was written by David Itkin.
Emmy and Golden Globe winner William Shatner is famous for his portrayal of both Captain James T. Kirk (Star Trek) and Denny Crane in Boston Legal. His latest album,
the critically acclaimed Has Been has sold over 70,000 units in the U.S. and his reading of Elton John s Rocket Man from the Science Fiction Awards is an internet
favorite and has over 1 million hits on YouTube.com.
Commenting on Exodus, Shatner recently stated: It was a hot summer night and three thousand people filed into the venue. They did not know what they were going to hear.
At the other end of the theatre, I was at the artist entrance and making my way backstage. I too did not know what was going to happen. The experience that the actor and the audience had that night was unique and in that cyclone of energy between actor
and audience, between musicians and music, the synergy was palpable. Listen to this record and you may have an experience that you have never had before.
Exodus: An Oratorio in Three Parts Reviews:
A Perfect Trifecta
2008-10-17 - Truly inspirational, the work of William Shatner and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is a perfect merging of music and the spoken word to bring the powerful message from the second book of the Jewish Torah and of the Christian Old Testament on Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt and through the wilderness to the Mountain of God.
The music is written by David Itkin and also features a 350 member choral group. The recording is taken from a pair of April 2005 shows at the Robinson Center Music Hall in Little Rock.
There is a synergy between the performers and audience that makes the concert very special and this CD a unique artistic statement.
Finally on Amazon!!!!
2008-10-06 - I am so excited to see that this finally is available!!! I was in the chorus for this production with the Arkansas Symphony...I've been trying to get my hands on the recorded copy. It's hard to fully appreciate an opus and the effect(s) of the narration, even when read by the noted William Shatner, when you are only privy to focusing on your vocal part. Thank you, Amazon, for adding this to your list of available selections!
A Perfect Performance: This Type of Work is Made for Shatner
2008-07-16 - I have listened to the CD a number of times now and I believe that this type of work is made for Bill Shatner. His reading in the Shatner style of clear enunciation and pronunciation with his dramaticism and the powerful music accompaniment elicits a profound appreciation for God and His Bible. I think Bill should do this for other stories in the Bible. He knows where to put the emphasis on words and how to dramatize and make the Bible come to life straight from his own lips. One does not need to watch a video of this, for the words and the music create the scenes and convey the emotions straight from the CD into your ears. It is awesome! He WILL need to do this for other stories in the Bible. He WILL be disappointed if he does not and he WILL disappoint me if he does not use this gift that God has given him.
Shatner Rocks the Bible
2008-05-20 - You really have to hear this to believe it. If you are a Star Trek fan or an Pop Culture Fan or a Bible Toting Trekkie with a 'tude.... this is a must have item.
All of Shatners joy in life and personality comes shining through...
The meaning in every word resonates because you are getting the word of G-d from a great orator. How fun to watch an old episode of Star Trek with the kids and then flip this on. The Bible as read by Cap'n Kirk...what could be bad about that?
Enjoy!
Meet The New Moses!!!!
2008-05-08 - William Shatner's "Exodus" was one of the most uplifting, inspirational CD's that I have listened to in a very long time!
I felt like I was right there in the live audience with all the actors, musicians and of course Bill Shatner!
The music and singers are just amazing.
This is a great CD for fans of William Shatner, but also people that are interested in the book of "Exodus."
