Nirvana was a popular grunge rock band from Aberdeen, Washington until the suicide of Kurt Cobain, the band's lead singer, in 1994. With the lead single 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' from their 1991 album 'Nevermind,' Nirvana exploded into the mainstream along with other Seattle-area grunge bands such as Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden.
